CAMBRIAN CONTINENTS
OF MAJOR INTEREST:
.
The acceptance of plate tectonics
renewed an impetus on the study of fossil distributions, which lead to
a strong alteration of hypotheses on the paleogeography of the Early Paleozoic
and older periods of earth history. The acceptance of vanished oceans and
complicate movements of continental slices created a picture of the Cambrian
continental configuration that is amazingly different from the present-day
geography.
